Volunteers

As a community organisation, our strength lies in the generous contributions made by our volunteers. Our volunteers share their time and skills with those we assist in order to provide people with every opportunity to learn how to improve their household confidence and skills.

The quality of a good Supergran is that she :

  • Can relate to all people and is not fazed by hardship or disability
  • Is a good organizer – able to plan and think
  • Sets high standards for herself and helps others to achieve their best
  • Has good personal values – is sincere, honest, fair and consistent
  • Is a motivator – able to maintain a high interest level in the sharing process
  • Is diplomatic and able to honour confidences
  • Is non-judgmental
  • Has a good sense of humour
  • Has good oral and written communication skills
  • Has housekeeping skills
  • Is a basic home handyperson
  • Has home budgeting skills
  • Is able to absorb information and transfer this to clients

Don’t be put off by this list. If you would like to offer your services as a volunteer, or you wish to know more about what being a SuperGran volunteer entails, please feel free to contact us.

The SuperGran groups are able to provide services free of charge to our many clients/participants through the financial support of private philanthropic organisations, individuals and government agencies.

Total funds raised are used to provide services to SuperGran clients. This includes the infrastructure costs such as property rentals, equipment rental or purchase costs, communication costs, mileage costs for volunteers and salaried staff as well as salaries and costs incurred by coordinators, field co-ordinators and some specialist tutors.

A tremendous vote of thanks must go to all our volunteer supergrans without whose help and support there would not be a SuperGran scheme

A big vote of thanks to all the funders who have supported the SuperGran groups.
